if you believe in racism against white people
if you do and still believe in racism against white people
get off this planet
This poem is moving beyond words, and I feel so much for the gentleman. But I do have something to say about the person above saying there is no racism against white people, because you are very very wrong. There is racism against every creed and color under the sun, and then there is racism within races.
Let me tell you a little about when I was a kid.
My mom and dad raised me to never look at skin color and determine anything about a person that way, I should only judge someone by their attitude. Growing up this way I had plenty of colored friends from all different races. But around the time I turned 7, I had to move into my grandmothers house which was in a predominately black neighborhood. I moved there after having plenty of neighborhood friends in my old neighborhood and thought I could just go up to kids and make friends with them. I was very wrong.
The first kid I tried making friends with called me a cracker and said “My daddy said not to play with nasty white cracker kids.”
I went through a year or two there where I had to learn which streets I could ride my bicycle on because if I went on the wrong one I would have people sick their pit bulls on me or have children throw stones at me.
I was enrolled in the local middle school when I graduated from elementary and within one day was withdrawn because of how badly I was beaten. And was threatened by the children if I ever came back they would kill me.
I had to ride my bicycle home from a further school because the kids on the bus threatened me multiple times, and was stabbed in the leg with a pencil.
Once one of the pit bulls actually did catch me on my bike ride home and I had to go to the hospital.
Our house was spray painted and egged and vandalized and I was almost kidnapped twice by a black man that would stand outside our yard frequently. Our neighbor killed my cat because of our color.
We heard gun shots nightly.
I’m now 22 and I still have plenty of colored friends, my boyfriends brother is black, and I don’t look at someone that is black and think “threat” despite what I grew up around, but please, please don’t tell me there is no such thing as racism against white people.
Yeah, this poem is very moving. But in no way does it disprove racism against any particular group of people. Racism and discrimination are issues all over the world for every ethnic group from every country. The vector of the unjust treatment is dependent on the place in the world and what people in that place have been taught as a culture.
