So here’s something that mattered to me today. I’m sure everybody knows Super Mario 3, right?
Well in case you didn’t know, in this SMB 3 as well as the newest game Super Mario 3D Land, Mario gains the ability to fly when he wears a costume of a tanuki among other skills.
The PETA is trying to say that this promotes animal skinning and poaching (FUR-DER), even though we all know that this is complete malarky and that Mario is a children’s game. Now these animals are indeed real creatures.
And the PETA has a game up to help these skinned tanuki get their stolen fur back from Mario.
They have since retracted their initial statement, saying that it was “tongue-in-cheek” and they were joking… Mostly.
Now they’re saying that Mario fans shouldn’t get their shorts in a bunch and laugh with them, as long as they’re not buying furs.
But honestly folks I can understand where they’re coming from, and I also support the idea that animals shouldn’t be killed just for their warm fuzzy outer coverings, but there are more important issues than children’s video games for you to be taking your fur-der rage out on PETA.
This was just something I thought you internet people might be interested in on this lovely deadline-free weekend. Lemme know what all of you guys think of this and I’ll give you some replies. Talk to you guys in the future.
